US president brands Putin “a thug”, says “history is watching”
President Joe Biden has called Vladimir Putin 'a thug' and has told everyone 'history is watching'. He spoke about the sad events that are happening in the world where many people are dying.
Biden said that America should not bow down to anyone and must stand strong against the leader of Russia, Daily Express US reports.
He wants Congress to say yes to a big bill for helping other countries' armies. This bill, which is worth $95 billion, has already been given the thumbs up by the Senate.
It's mostly to help Ukraine's army and to give aid to people who need it.
Biden is asking Congress to show that America supports freedom.
At a special lunch before St Patrick's Day, hosted by Speaker Mike Johnson, Biden said: "I'm committed to continue to do our part. I'm confident the vast majority of members of Congress are willing to do their part and continue to urge every member in this room to stand up to Vladimir Putin. He's a thug.
"And I urge you to send me the national security bill. Now the bill includes funding for Ukraine and Israel and maybe equally important, humanitarian assistance to Gaza."
"They're badly, badly needed and it sends a clear message America stands up for freedom and we bow down to no one to no-one in the world."
