US president demands immediate action to lower oil prices

US President Donald Trump issued a forceful appeal on June 23 urging all parties to keep oil prices low, warning that rising costs would only benefit adversaries.

“Everyone, keep oil prices down. I’m watching! you’re playing right into the hands of the enemy. don’t do it!” Trump declared in a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Caliber.Az reports.

The statement comes in the wake of Trump’s decision to authorize strikes on Iran’s critical nuclear facilities over the weekend—an action that has heightened global fears of retaliatory disruptions to energy supplies in the volatile Middle East region.

While Trump did not specify the audience of his message, it appeared directed at the US oil sector. Earlier this year, several oil companies had indicated potential production cuts following significant price drops linked to Trump’s tariff policies and increased output from OPEC+ nations.

In a follow-up post, Trump exhorted the government to increase domestic oil production, stating, “To the Department of Energy: Drill, baby, drill!!! And I mean now!!!”
