Iran claims US provided Israel with satellite imagery before missile attacks
Commander of the Basij organisation, part of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Gholamreza Soleimani has said that before Iran's missile strikes, Israel received intelligence from the United States regarding the movements of Iranian missile units.
"During the Iranian missile strikes, the Americans informed [Israel] that they were unaware of the attacks. However, in reality, the Americans provided Israel with satellite images of the movement of Iranian missile units, which prompted the Israelis to take cover in bomb shelters," Soleimani said, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Despite the information from US intelligence, Israeli military facilities were "successfully attacked" during Iran's strikes in April and October, Soleimani added.
"This is a very clear signal to Israel, which attacked the Palestinian people and dream of conquering the Islamic world," the Iranian military leader stated. He emphasized that Tehran used only a small portion of its military and technological capabilities in the attack on Israel.
On the evening of October 1, Iran launched a massive missile strike on Israel in retaliation for the assassinations of key figures in Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Tehran claimed that 90 per cent of the missiles successfully hit their intended targets; however, Israel contended that approximately 180 missiles were fired, with the majority intercepted.
The Israeli General Staff vowed to respond to the attack. In turn, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned that Iran's retaliatory strikes against Israel would be even more extensive in such a case.
On the same day, the US Department of State stated that Iran did not notify the US about the impending large-scale missile strike on Israel.
