US Secretary Blinken expresses support to protesters in Western Azerbaijan province

The US Secretary of State has reported on the increasing use of violence used by the Iranian authorities against protesters in the city of Mahabad (formerly known as Soyugbulag) in the Western Azerbaijan province of the country.

He shared this observation in a post on his official Twitter account, writing, that "Greatly concerned that Iranian authorities are reportedly escalating violence against protesters, particularly in the city of Mahabad. We continue to pursue accountability for those involved, as we support the Iranian people".
