US senator says Pakistan may no longer be fit to mediate Middle East talks

13 May 2026 16:01

US Senator Lindsey Graham sharply criticised Pakistan following reports alleging that the country had allowed Iran to use its bases to park military aircraft, a claim tied to wider concerns over regional mediation efforts.

Graham questioned Pakistan’s role as a mediator in Middle East diplomacy and suggested the allegations, if confirmed, would undermine confidence in its position, Caliber.Az reports, citing US media.

He said: "I don't trust Pakistan as far as I can throw them. If they actually do have Iranian aircraft parked in Pakistan bases to protect Iranian military assets, that tells me we should be looking maybe for somebody else to mediate. No wonder this damn thing is going nowhere."
