US senator: Trump issued ultimatum to Iran, may use extra force
US Republican Senator Dave McCormick has said that President Donald Trump has issued an ultimatum to Iran and could resort to additional military force if Tehran fails to respond appropriately.
“The Iranian regime has the blood of Americans, our allies, and its own people on its hands. For decades, the Ayatollahs have threatened our destruction and funded global terror,” McCormick said in an interview with CNBC, part of which he published on his X account, Caliber.Az reports.
He went on to say that Trump’s maximum pressure campaign is hitting Iran hard, and its regime is “crumbling.” “… its [Iran’s] economy is in ruins, its military is weakened, and its people are rising up. We must continue to squeeze.”
“I think we are trying to do now is to tighten the noose. That’s what the president is trying to do — to put pressure on Iran to act as a good actor. We should not have a lot of trust for Iran,"
The senator emphasised that if President Trump says he is going to take action and Iran does not respond appropriately, "he is likely to use additional capability, additional military forces in some form or another."
