US senator urges Trump to claim Iran’s strategic Kharg Island VIDEO
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham gave a striking take on the Iran conflict, suggesting that the US does not need a full-scale invasion but should target a strategic asset.
Speaking to Fox News, Graham argued there is “no reason” for an invasion, then directed former President Trump to “take Kharg Island.”
“No, we’re not gonna invade Iran. There’s no reason to. We’re gonna destroy their ability to hurt us, have a nuclear weapon, build missiles to hit America, and terrorise the region. Kharg Island, 90% of their income comes from oil and gas revenue. A hundred percent of that revenue-generating capability is on a single outlet. Mr President, take Kharg Island, this war is over,” he noted.
Kharg Island is a small coral island in the northern Persian Gulf that handles roughly 90 % of Iran’s crude oil exports via deep‑water jetties and subsea pipelines, making it the economic backbone of Tehran’s oil revenue.
On March 13, the United States carried out precision airstrikes on Kharg Island’s military infrastructure—destroying over 90 Iranian military sites—while reportedly sparing the oil export facilities during the initial assault.
Despite these air attacks, Iranian officials stated that oil production and exports remained uninterrupted, emphasising that the strategic export hub was still operational.
