US shuts embassy in Beirut amid Middle East tensions

The United States has temporarily closed its embassy in Beirut, Lebanon, citing escalating tensions in the Middle East.

“Due to ongoing regional tensions, U.S. Embassy Beirut will be closed until further notice,” the embassy said in a post on X.

“All other regular and emergency consular appointments have been cancelled. We will communicate when the Embassy returns to normal operations,” the diplomatic mission noted.
