US signals potential investigation into pro-Armenian senator Schiff

18 August 2025 12:40

Ed Martin, who leads President Donald Trump’s Justice Department Weaponization Working Group, has hinted that his team may soon launch additional investigative actions targeting pro-Armenian Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and members of the now-defunct House Select Jan. 6 Committee who were not pardoned by former President Joe Biden.

Martin highlighted an ongoing criminal probe into Schiff over allegations of mortgage fraud and suggested that more could follow, Caliber.Az reports via New York Post

“There’s a referral from Bill Pulte about mortgage fraud about Adam Schiff. That’s publicly discussed. His own lawyers have been out there,” Martin told Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures. “Now there’s more on Adam Schiff.”

Martin did not provide details about what further actions might be taken.

The allegations stem from a referral in May by Federal Housing Finance Agency Director William Pulte, who claimed that between 2003 and 2019, Schiff “falsified bank documents and property records to acquire more favorable loan terms.”

Pulte alleges that Schiff listed his Maryland home as a primary residence in multiple mortgage refinancing filings, despite representing California in Congress at the time. Similar claims were made about a Burbank, California condo Schiff also designated as his primary residence.

Some lawmakers maintain homes both in their home states and in the Washington, D.C., area during their tenure in Congress, but Pulte contends that Schiff’s filings went beyond customary arrangements.

Separately, Schiff has faced accusations from a former Democratic House Intelligence Committee aide, alleging that he approved leaks of classified information during the Russiagate investigation to harm President Trump. DOJ officials have reportedly concluded that Schiff may have been protected from liability under the Constitution’s speech and debate clause, according to an FBI memo obtained by The Post.

“All we’re going to do, again, is get to the facts of this and use all the tools that we have in our system,” Martin said.

Martin also  indicated that members of the House Select Jan. 6 Committee are under review, despite Biden granting a sweeping pardon to the panel’s participants.

“We’re all in that too,” Martin said. “A lot of people did not get a pardon that were involved in the select committee, and they ought to be keeping an eye on their mailbox, because there’s a lot to be asked about.”
