US, South Korea, Japan condemn North Korea-Russia deepening military cooperation
The US, South Korea and Japan condemn "in the strongest possible terms" the deepening military cooperation between North Korea and Russia, including the continued supply of weapons from North Korea to Russia that are being used in the war against Ukraine.
In addition to prolonging the suffering of the Ukrainian people, arms supplies from North Korea violate numerous UN Security Council resolutions and threaten stability in both Northeast Asia and Europe, Caliber.Az reports, citing a joint statement of representatives of the three countries, published on the website of the US State Department.
The developing partnership between the DPRK and Russia, as evidenced by the signing of a strategic partnership agreement during Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's visit to Pyongyang on 19 June, should be of serious concern to all those interested in maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, the authors of the document said.
In it, the United States, South Korea, and Japan reaffirm their intention to further strengthen diplomatic and security cooperation to counter the threats that the North Korea poses to regional and global security.
"US commitments to protect South Korea and Japan remain unwavering. The US, South Korea and Japan also reaffirm that the path to dialogue remains open and call on the DPRK to stop further provocations and return to talks," the statement said.
