US Speaker Pelosi hints at possible resignation
Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, has given an interview to CNN on the aftermath of the brutal attack on her husband, in which she hinted at her future in politics.
During the interview on November 7, the journalist asked if Pelosi made a decision on whether she would retire should the Democratic party lose the majority in the House in the upcoming elections. The Democrat responded that "the decision will be affected" by the events of the past weeks.
The USA will hold midterm elections on November 8, during which all 435 seats in the House of Representatives, currently dominated by the Democrats, and 35 of the 100 seats in the Senate will be re-elected.
Caliber.Az recalls, that Paul Pelosi, the husband of the House Speaker, was violently attacked on October 28 in the couple's home in San Francisco by a male intruder using a hammer. He was rushed into hospital where had to undergo brain surgery and has already been discharged. The assailant, David DePape, has been caught and is in police custody where stated that he intended to attack Nancy Pelosi, who fortunately was in Washington D.C at the time.
