US State Department warns Americans abroad to stay alert
The US Department of State has issued a new advisory urging Americans around the world, particularly in the Middle East, to exercise heightened caution due to escalating security risks.
In its warning, the department emphasised that U.S. citizens abroad should follow the guidance provided in security alerts from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
Travellers are also advised to prepare for potential disruptions, as periodic airspace closures may occur.
The alert comes amid reports that U.S. diplomatic facilities have been targeted, including locations outside the Middle East.
The Department of State also noted that groups supportive of Iran may attempt to target other U.S. interests overseas or sites associated with Americans globally.
