US summons Russian ambassador over UAV incident

The US State Department is summoning Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov after the interception of a US drone by a Russian jet over the Black Sea, the agency’s spokesman Ned Price said on March 14, reports TASS.

He said at a news conference that the State Department has been engaged with Russia at a high level to express strong objections to "what was clearly an unsafe and unprofessional intercept on the part of a Russian aircraft."

US Ambassador Lynne Tracy "has conveyed a strong message to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs" in Moscow about the incident, Price said.

The State Department expected the meeting with Ambassador Antonov to take place on March 14 afternoon, the spokesman said.
