US: Three men killed in Detroit shooting, four others injured

Three men have been killed and four other people injured in a shooting at an “after-hours” venue in Detroit.

Police Chief Todd Bettison said officers responded at about 07:21 local time on September 28, Caliber.Az reports, citing US media.

The shooting happened near Eaton Avenue and Prest Street on the city’s west side, according to The Detroit News.

Officers found three men with fatal injuries, while two men and two women were taken to hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The ages of those shot have not been released. The three men who died were believed to be aged about 30 or older, police said.

Investigators said the shooting followed a fight. Police have leads and are working to identify those responsible. No arrests had been confirmed.

Bettison said police had received seven calls to the address this year. He described the venue as resembling a strip club and said it had been operating for about 20 years.

Ciera Riley, who identified one of the men killed as her 32-year-old brother and said he was a father of four, described him as a loving person.

Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield said the city would provide support services to residents and families affected by the shooting.
