US to deploy army, military equipment to Denmark

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen have signed a defence cooperation agreement.

The agreement allows for the stationing of U.S. troops and equipment in the Scandinavian country, Nordjyske reports.

"Since World War II, American involvement in Europe has been something that has ensured our security, and maintaining and expanding this is positive," Rasmussen said.

It is noted that the defence agreement provides for the deployment of the United States military at airfields in Karup, Skrydstrup and Aalborg. According to the publication, no figures on exactly how many soldiers will be sent to the Scandinavian country have not yet been established.
