US top official, E3 allies unite in Istanbul for urgent talks on Iran, Ukraine
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio convened a strategic meeting with the national security advisers of E3—the United Kingdom, Germany, and France—in Istanbul, as the parties discussed escalating tensions surrounding Iran and the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The high-level talks focused on coordinating transatlantic responses to two of the most pressing geopolitical challenges currently confronting the international community, Caliber.Az reports citing foreign media.
The meeting comes amid renewed concerns over Iran’s regional behavior, nuclear ambitions, and increasing instability in the Middle East, as well as the protracted Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The Istanbul meeting is seen as part of broader US efforts to reinforce unity among key Western allies ahead of upcoming multilateral summits and in anticipation of possible diplomatic developments with both Tehran and Moscow.
