IRGC claims missile and drone strike on US base in Jordan UPDATED

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had launched a large-scale missile and drone attack on the U.S. Al-Azraq air base in Jordan, according to Iranian state-affiliated media.

The Fars news agency, citing the IRGC, said the strike targeted key infrastructure at the base, including fighter jet hangars and the runway. The IRGC claimed that at least two fighter jets and three U.S. aircraft were “completely destroyed,” while several others sustained serious damage.

The claims could not be independently verified, and there was no immediate comment from U.S. or Jordanian officials.

Separately, Iranian media reported that U.S. military facilities in Kuwait had again come under shelling, without providing further details.

Iranian forces attacked at least two military installations in Jordan this week, wounding several U.S. service members, CBS News reported, citing multiple anonymous American officials.

The U.S. officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to discuss the matter publicly. According to the network, no fatalities have been reported among either American or Jordanian personnel at this time. The exact severity of the injuries sustained by the wounded service members remains unclear.

Jordanian military installations routinely host forward-deployed U.S. warplanes conducting regional security operations. Neither the Pentagon nor the Jordanian government has issued an official statement regarding the specific assets damaged or the types of munitions utilised in the cross-border strikes.
