US, UK forces strike Houthi-controlled targets in Yemen’s Al Hudaydah
The United States and the United Kingdom have conducted two fresh airstrikes in Yemen's Al Hudaydah province, targeting areas controlled by the Houthi rebel group, Ansar Allah.
The strikes reportedly focused on the Bajil district, however, details regarding the specific targets and the aftermath of the strikes remain undisclosed, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Houthi-aligned Al Masirah TV channel.
This development follows heightened tensions in the region after Ansar Allah threatened to attack Israeli territory and disrupt shipping linked to Israel in the Red Sea and Bab-el-Mandeb Strait. The warning came amid escalating hostilities in the Gaza Strip, with the group declaring that such actions would persist until the ongoing military operation in Gaza ends.
Since November 2023, the Houthis have carried out numerous attacks on civilian vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, prompting a strong response from international actors. In retaliation, the United States announced the establishment of an international coalition and the launch of Operation Prosperity Guardian. The operation aims to safeguard maritime navigation and protect commercial shipping routes in the Red Sea.
British and American forces have since intensified their military campaign, regularly targeting Houthi military infrastructure across Yemen. These strikes are part of broader efforts to counter Ansar Allah’s activities, which threaten regional stability and international shipping lanes.
