US used six fighter jets in strikes on Iranian targets

Six U.S. fighter jets took part in American airstrikes against Iranian targets following a drone attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, The New York Times reported, citing a U.S. official.

The strikes, carried out on June 26, lasted about 90 minutes and targeted four sites along the Strait of Hormuz and on Iran's Qeshm Island, according to the official.

The mission involved F-35 and F-16 fighter jets, which struck Iranian missile and drone storage facilities as well as coastal radar stations, the official said.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said the operation was launched in response to Iran's June 25 drone attack on the merchant vessel M/V Ever Lovely in the Strait of Hormuz.

“U.S. aircraft struck Iranian missile and drone storage facilities, as well as coastal radar stations, after Iran attacked the M/V Ever Lovely with a strike drone on June 25,” CENTCOM said in a statement.
