US vice president's remarks shatter EU illusions, expose deep hostility
US Vice President JD Vance has delivered a blow to fundamental European values with his remarks at the Munich Security Conference.
His speech has been described as an outburst of unrestrained fury, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
It was an attack of unchecked fury in the name of free speech, exposing the long-standing hostility that US President Donald Trump and his top aides harbor toward the EUs.
Vance not only highlighted the new contours of the White House's policy toward the EU but also shattered the illusion that the US will always intervene when needed.
Europe now finds itself in a desperate race to align security plans for Ukraine in case of a peace deal, as Trump is already rushing to begin negotiations with Russia.
Earlier, Vance stated at the Munich Security Conference that the real threat to Europe is not Russia or China, but the erosion of European values. EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, called his remarks provocative.
