US vows resolved action if North Korea arms Russia
The US will "not hesitate" to take the necessary steps if North Korea agrees to provide weapons to Russia.
“We have aggressively enforced our sanctions against entities that fund Russia’s war effort, and we will continue to enforce those sanctions and will not hesitate to impose new sanctions if appropriate,” Caliber.Az quotes Miller as addressing a US State Department briefing on September 11.
He reminded both countries that any transfer of arms from North Korea to Russia would be in violation of multiple United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Commenting on North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's visit to Russia, Miller said Washington "will monitor what is happening and will not hesitate to take steps to hold these individuals accountable if necessary."
Meanwhile, Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Patrick Ryder believes the meeting between the North Korean leader and Russian President Vladimir Putin is "likely to be on the topic of weapons."
"We are aware of the upcoming meeting. Our understanding is that this meeting will be centred on arms talks," he said.
