US warns Iran of severe consequences for any attack on Israel
In a recent briefing, a high-ranking U.S. official issued a stark warning to Iran, stating that any military action against Israel would result in catastrophic consequences for Tehran.
This declaration was made during a special session with journalists, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The U.S. official emphasized that Iran’s attempts to justify a potential large-scale missile strike on Israel were baseless. “Iran has attempted to rationalize such a strike as partially legitimate, but this is entirely unfounded. No recent events justify a massive armed attack on Israel,” the official asserted.
Reaffirming America's commitment to Israel's defence, the official declared, “We stand ready to confront and defend Israel if necessary. However, we strongly advise Iran against pursuing this course of action, as it would lead to devastating repercussions for the Iranian regime.”
Addressing questions about the possibility of a U.S. military response against Iran, the official did not offer specific details. Instead, they confirmed the relocation of substantial military assets to the region to handle any potential escalation. “We are fully prepared for any eventuality in the Middle East and are coordinating closely with our partners and allies,” the official stated. “While we are committed to supporting Israel’s defence, we will refrain from speculating on further actions at this time.”
The recent escalation in the Middle East has been marked by significant incidents. Tensions surged following the death of Ismail Haniyeh, chairman of the Hamas politburo, in Tehran, and the elimination of Fouad Shokr, a prominent Hezbollah commander, in Beirut. Both Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah have blamed Israel for these events, vowing retaliation.
The Israeli government has not addressed Haniyeh’s death publicly. However, they have characterized Shokr's death as a direct response to recent attacks on the Druze village of Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights, where 12 individuals were killed. Hezbollah has denied any involvement in the attack on Majdal Shams.
