US warns of threats against protesters in Iran
The United States Department of State has issued a warning regarding threats made against protesters in Iran.
According to Caliber.Az, on January 9, the US State Department’s Persian-language account on X posted that the head of Iran’s judiciary had once again threatened demonstrators, stating that “this time no one will be spared.”
According to the post, the Iranian regime is relying on intimidation rather than addressing the root causes of the unrest.
“Instead of tackling the underlying reasons for the protests, the Islamic Republic regime resorts to threats and intimidation. The world is watching,” the statement said.
Protests have continued across Iran since late December, sparked by economic grievances and a sharp fall in the national currency, with demonstrations reported in all 31 provinces.
