US F-16s intercept aircraft near Trump’s New Jersey golf club

U.S. Air Force F-16 fighter jets were scrambled after several general aviation aircraft entered restricted airspace near Bedminster, New Jersey, where U.S. President Donald Trump’s golf club is located.

The North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD) said its F-16s intercepted multiple aircraft that violated temporary flight restrictions over Bedminster, Caliber.Az reports.

“All aircraft were safely escorted out of the area,” NORAD said, while urging pilots to check official aviation notices and temporary flight restrictions before flying in the area.

The restrictions were established by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ahead of Trump’s arrival in New Jersey and were scheduled to remain in effect over the region during the weekend.

NORAD had also warned that U.S. Army ground-based air-defence assets could be deployed in the area as part of the command’s layered defence measures.
