USS Gerald R. Ford leaves Croatia after repairs Destination unknown
The US aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford has departed the port of Split in Croatia after completing a period of repairs and resupply, according to the US Navy.
The vessel remained in port for five days following a fire incident that occurred on March 12 in the Red Sea. The blaze, which broke out in the stern section of the carrier, lasted for more than 24 hours and necessitated restoration work.
According to the US Navy, the aircraft carrier is now “ready to carry out all assigned tasks,” although officials did not disclose its next destination or whether it will return to the Middle East.
Meanwhile, a separate US carrier strike group led by the USS Abraham Lincoln continues to operate in the region, currently deployed in the northern part of the Arabian Sea.
