Uzbek president meets Karakalpak residents PHOTO
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who again arrived in Nukus city on July 3, held a videoconference meeting with the heads of all districts of Karakalpakstan.
The internet was available for a while in Karakalpakstan, but after about 20 minutes it ceased again, Uzbekistan’s Gazeta.uz reports referring to the presidential press service.
“The heads of law enforcement agencies of the districts reported on the ongoing measures to ensure the safety of citizens, and strengthen law and order. The situation stabilised after the president’s appeal on July 2,” the message said.
A state of emergency has been introduced in Karakalpakstan since July 3, 2022. Commandant of the territory, Commander of the National Guard of Uzbekistan Rustam Juraev reported on the current situation, noting that it was taken under full control, according to the message.
Uzbek Defence Minister Bakhodir Kurbanov, Head of the State Security Service Abdusalom Azizov, Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes (parliament) of Karakalpakstan Murat Kamalov and other officials were involved in the videoconference meeting.
