Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan deepen ties with new cooperation pact

Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have signed a Treaty on Allied Relations, formalising a new phase in bilateral ties following talks between their leaders.

Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Sadyr Japarov signed the agreement, according to UzDaily, alongside a broader package of documents aimed at expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.

The agreements include a treaty covering specific sections of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz state border, as well as accords on the joint use of the Chashma spring, social insurance and pension provision, and the mutual recognition of higher education credits.

The two sides also signed protocols amending existing agreements on border crossing points, travel arrangements for citizens, and resort and recreational facilities in the Issyk-Kul region.

In addition, both countries approved joint action plans for 2026–2027 in culture, tourism and the agro-industrial sector, and signed a separate agreement concerning the “Buston” boarding house in Issyk-Kul.

The package of documents is intended to strengthen allied relations and deepen economic, humanitarian and cross-border cooperation between the neighbouring states.
