Uzbekistan maximises gas imports from Russia, Turkmenistan
Uzbekistan has significantly increased its imports of natural gas from Russia and Turkmenistan, surpassing its exports over the first eleven months of 2025, according to data from the country’s National Statistics Committee.
Imports of “blue fuel” from Turkmenistan and Russia totaled $1.45 billion in January–November, slightly down 1.2% compared with the same period last year.
The flow of imports showed strong month-to-month fluctuations: from $27.8 million in January, dropping to $2.7 million in March, and then surging to $286.3 million in June.
After a temporary slowdown in July–September, imports climbed to $190.2 million in October and reached a record high of $334.3 million in November — the largest monthly volume this year.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan’s gas exports to China rose 5.2% year-on-year to $624.1 million over the same period.
Exports began the year at $21.8 million in January, peaked at $105.4 million in April, and fell to $22 million in October. November saw a rebound to $55.9 million, the highest level since July.
