Uzbekistan pushes to join World Trade Organization by March 2026
Uzbekistan may become a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in March 2026.
WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala told the “Uzbekistan 24” TV channel that a meeting of the WTO working group was scheduled for November, expressing hope that by the set deadline in March, all necessary work would be completed, paving the way for the official announcement of Uzbekistan’s accession to the organisation, Caliber.Az reports.
On September 22, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala in New York.
During the meeting, both sides emphasised the importance of ensuring a productive session of the working group in November this year, as well as finalising negotiations and joining the organisation in 2026.
