The ministry said the screening included thorough inspections of the athletes' luggage, the use of metal detectors and checks conducted with canine units. Officials noted that the measures were not limited to the Uzbek delegation and were also applied to other participating national teams, including those of Senegal and Belgium.
In response to the incident, Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry has established contact with relevant US authorities through the country's Consulate General in New York and requested official explanations regarding the circumstances surrounding the additional checks.
While acknowledging the importance of security measures, the ministry stressed the need to maintain an appropriate balance between safety requirements and the spirit of international sporting competitions.
