Uzbekistan’s heatwave breaks power grid load records
Uzbekistan is experiencing an unprecedented strain on its electricity system as a severe heatwave drives power consumption to record levels.
The Tashkent Electric Networks press service has confirmed that soaring temperatures are the primary cause of frequent power outages across the country, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The sharp rise in air temperature has significantly increased demand on the national power grid, pushing it to its operational limits. This heightened load raises the risk of major failures and large-scale blackouts, according to officials.
In July, Uzbekistan set new records for both peak electricity load and daily consumption, underscoring the challenges faced by the energy sector amid extreme weather conditions.
