Vandals deface Polish consulate in New York, investigation underway
Vandals damaged the facade, surveillance equipment, and exhibition panels at the Polish Consulate General in New York, according to RMF24.
Citing Polish radio, the report said unidentified individuals targeted the consulate building, defacing its exterior and painting over the lens of a surveillance camera. They also vandalized information panels that had been installed in front of the consulate as part of an exhibition.
The extent of the damage includes both the physical structure of the building and external elements associated with the display. The incident appears to have been carried out deliberately, with specific attention given to disabling visual monitoring equipment.
The New York Police Department has opened an investigation into the attack to identify those responsible and determine the circumstances surrounding the vandalism.
In response, representatives of Poland’s diplomatic service said they are treating the incident with particular seriousness, signalling concern over both the damage to diplomatic property and the implications for security.
