Vatican Cardinal praises Azerbaijan’s role in global interfaith dialogue PHOTO
Prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue of the Holy See, Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad, has praised Azerbaijan’s support for interfaith dialogue at the global level.
He made the remarks during a meeting with Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, Caliber.Az reports.
Mammadov stated that Azerbaijan is making consistent efforts to establish lasting peace, security, and relations based on mutual trust in the region, promoting important initiatives, and that the Azerbaijani model of coexistence is based on the principles of mutual respect, equality, and inclusiveness.
The Prefect noted that he highly values the work carried out in Azerbaijan to protect religious diversity and strengthen traditions of tolerance, as well as the country’s rich experience in this field and its support for interfaith dialogue on a global scale.
During the meeting, participants were also briefed on the documentary film “Harmony,” produced by Arzu Aliyeva, head of the Baku Media Center, which highlights traditions of coexistence and tolerance in Azerbaijan. The sides exchanged views on the proposal to present the film in foreign countries, including at the Vatican.
The meeting further discussed joint initiatives to promote interreligious and intercultural dialogue, the importance of cooperation between religious leaders and institutions amid global challenges, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
