Vatican expresses concern over Trump assassination attempt
The Holy See has voiced its concern regarding the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump.
"The Holy See expresses its concern over the episode of violence that has occurred, which harms people and democracy and leads to suffering and death, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
The Vatican joins the US bishops in praying for America, for the victims, and for pacification in the country in the hope that the reasons for violence will never prevail," stated the Holy See's press office.
This statement follows a global outcry over the violent attack, which left one attendee dead and critically injured two others at a rally in Pennsylvania. Trump's campaign confirmed that the former president, who was grazed by a bullet on his right ear, is "fine" and recovering. The Secret Service neutralized the suspected shooter, who attacked from an elevated position outside the venue.
As investigations continue, international leaders have condemned the attack, emphasizing the need for peace and the rejection of violence in political discourse. The Vatican's call for prayer and unity echoes these sentiments, underscoring the importance of democracy and human dignity.
