Venezuelan port turned into temporary morgue after earthquake VIDEO
An improvised morgue has been set up at the port of La Guaira in Venezuela following a devastating earthquake, according to RIA Novosti.
The port is being used to receive bodies recovered from under the rubble of collapsed buildings. Relatives have gathered at the entrance in search of missing family members among the victims.
La Guaira has become one of the hardest-hit areas after the earthquake. Plastic containers have been prepared at the port for bodies that have already been identified by relatives. After identification, the deceased are handed over to families for cremation, while those who cannot be identified are cremated at state expense.
Footage circulating online shows hundreds of coffins being delivered to the city.
According to official figures, the death toll from the earthquake has reached 1,943 people.
