Vietnamese leader travels to US for Gaza Board of Peace meeting
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, To Lam, has departed Hanoi for Washington to participate in the inaugural meeting of the Gaza Board of Peace, scheduled for February 18–20, 2026.
According to the Vietnamese newspaper Nghean, the visit is being made at the invitation of US President Donald Trump.
The Vietnamese delegation includes senior party and government officials: Defence Minister Pham Van Giang, Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, Finance Minister Nguyen Van Thang, as well as other high-ranking officials and Vietnam’s ambassador to the US, Nguyen Quoc Dung.
Hanoi officials note that the participation of such a high-level delegation underscores Vietnam’s readiness to engage in international efforts to maintain peace and stability. The visit is also seen as a step toward strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the United States, including coordination on key global issues.
