Von der Leyen rules out running for German presidency

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has dismissed speculation about leaving her position early to run for President of Germany, Lenta.ru reports.

Von der Leyen emphasised that she is fully committed to her role as President of the European Commission and has no intention of taking on other responsibilities.

“I am entirely dedicated to my duties as President of the European Commission and do not plan to assume any other role,” she said.

The statement comes amid media reports suggesting that she could soon be offered the opportunity to run for the German presidency.
