Vucic sees no reason to halt Serbia’s cooperation with Ukraine

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said he sees no reason to halt cooperation with Ukraine, despite maintaining what he described as “friendly relations with Asian countries and Russia,” in remarks published on July 24.

In an interview with Austrian newspaper Die Presse, Vucic emphasized Serbia’s independent foreign policy approach. “We cannot oppose someone just because someone else opposes them,” he said.

Vucic added that he hopes to host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Serbia for bilateral talks in the future.

His comments come shortly after a visit to Kyiv last week, where he attended the fifth Southeast Europe–Ukraine summit and held discussions with Zelenskyy.

The Serbian leader said he hopes both countries will support each other “on the European path and expand cooperation.”
