War in Ukraine claims lives of 500 children
The Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) has reported that, as of the morning of 13 August, 500 children have been officially confirmed to have been killed in Ukraine during Russia's armed aggression.
Over 1,597 children have been affected in Ukraine as a result of the Russian full-scale armed aggression, Ukrainska Pravda reports, citing the Ukrainian PGO.
Besides the 500 children killed, 1,097 more were injured.
The PGO says the majority of children were affected in the following oblasts: Donetsk – 485, Kharkiv – 298, Kyiv – 129, Kherson – 118, Zaporizhzhia – 99, Mykolaiv – 97, Dnipropetrovsk – 94, Chernihiv – 71, and Luhansk – 67.
However, the PGO emphasises that these figures are not definitive, as the number may differ after the liberation and examination of the Ukrainian territories captured by Russia.
