Washington evacuates staff from two Pakistan consulates

The United States Department of State has ordered the evacuation of non-emergency US government personnel and their family members from its consulates in Lahore and Karachi.
The decision, issued on March 3, 2026, applies to employees not engaged in emergency functions and was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of US personnel. The information was released by the press service of the US diplomatic mission in Pakistan.
The status of the United States Embassy in Islamabad remains unchanged.
Earlier, the State Department had also authorised non-emergency staff and their family members stationed in Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Cyprus to depart those countries voluntarily.
