06 May 2026 08:50
The United States has decided to gradually close its Consulate General in Peshawar, located in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to a statement from the US State Department.
“This decision reflects our commitment to the safety of our diplomatic personnel and efficient resource management,” the statement read.
In addition to the US Embassy in Islamabad, the United States will continue to operate its consulates general in Lahore and Karachi.
“We will continue to engage meaningfully with the people and officials of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to foster economic ties, promote regional security, and advance the interests of the American people,” the statement added.
