Water crisis deepens as Rhine hits record low in Düsseldorf

The water level of the Rhine River in Düsseldorf has dropped to a historic low of 15 centimeters, Germany’s Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration confirmed.

T-online reported that the new record was registered at 4:00 a.m. local time. The river stood at 20 centimeters a day earlier.

The latest reading surpasses Düsseldorf’s previous record low, marking an unprecedented decline in the river’s water level at the measurement point.

However, the new record will require official verification before it can be confirmed. The validation process could take up to three months, according to the report.
