Water in Kura River channels shrinks threefold PHOTOFACT

The issue of Kura River’s shoaling is still a relevant issue in Azerbaijan’s society.

Where recently the waves of the river have splashed in the air, now there is a dry shore or islets with small streams, per Caliber.Az.

According to official data for the last 3-4 years, Azerbaijan observes a 20-25 per cent decrease in the River’s water.

Shahbaz Khuduoglu, director of the “Qanun” printing house, shared another photo confirming the dangers of the situation on social media.

The photos are depicting that in the Kura River downstream has become three times less than its former size, both in terms of channel width and fullness.
