West should realize Russia, Belarus ready to repel any threat - ambassador
The Polish authorities and the West should be aware that Russia and Belarus are poised to repel any threat, regardless of its nature and scale, Russian Ambassador to Belarus Boris Gryzlov said on July 22.
"Warsaw, as well as the West in general, should realize that our countries are ready to repel any threat, no matter what its nature and scale are. We have all the capabilities to do so," TASS reported, citing the ambassador.
The diplomat explained that "the first step of NATO’s or any other aggressor’s troops across the Belarusian border will be their last one".
"There will be no half-measures, final warnings, or warning shots. An attack on Belarus will be viewed de jure and de facto as an attack on the Union State, and we will respond harshly and decisively, which is explicitly and unambiguously stipulated in the Military Doctrine of the Union State," he added.
On July 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with the Russian Security Council that "it was thanks to the Soviet Union, thanks to [Joseph] Stalin’s stand that Poland obtained a huge territory in the west, Germany’s lands".
The president added that Poland would like to seize not only Ukrainian but also Belarusian lands.
