Western Azerbaijan Community informs ICESCO of cultural heritage destruction in modern-day Armenia PHOTO

Director-General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO), Salim bin Mohammed Al-Malik, met with the leadership of the Western Azerbaijan Community (WAC).

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the WAC Board, Aziz Alakbarli, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Misir Mardanov, and other representatives of the organisation, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

The meeting discussed issues related to the preservation of cultural heritage, the revelation of the truth about Islamic heritage through educational and scientific research, as well as intercultural dialogue. Practical avenues for cooperation on issues of mutual interest were also considered.

The WAC representatives informed the ICESCO head about the violation of fundamental rights, including cultural and educational rights of Azerbaijanis as a result of ethnic cleansing in the territory of present-day Armenia, as well as the destruction of Azerbaijani cultural heritage there.

The ICESCO leadership highly appreciated the ethnic and religious diversity, the tolerant environment in Azerbaijan, as well as Azerbaijan's contribution to intercultural dialogue and ICESCO's activities.
