White House: Trump focused on rebuilding US arsenal

US President Donald Trump is prioritising the replenishment of the country’s military stockpiles over supplying additional ammunition to other nations, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, responding to questions about Ukrainian requests for missiles for Patriot air defence systems.

Leavitt was asked about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s requests for additional Patriot interceptors as Ukraine continues to seek greater air defence support, Caliber.Az reports per the press briefing. 

“Um, the president's been very clear on our position on munitions. Unfortunately, tragically, President Joe Biden gave away a lot to Ukraine and other countries around the world. The president, since day one, has been focused on rebuilding our arsenal," she said. 

Leavitt also stressed that the United States has sufficient ammunition reserves both domestically and overseas to carry out any military operation authorised by the president.

"With that said, contrary to much of the reporting in the media, the United States has more than enough munitions stockpiled here at home and all around the world to accomplish any mission that the commander in chief green lights,” Leavitt noted.
