White House: US has no plan to scale back military operation against Iran
The United States does not intend to scale back its military operation against Iran during contacts with the Islamic Republic, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told The New York Times (NYT).
“As President Trump and his negotiators explore this newfound possibility of diplomacy, Operation Epic Fury continues unabated to achieve the military objectives laid out by the commander inchief and the Pentagon,” she said.
Citing two unnamed officials, the newspaper notes that the U.S. has transmitted its 15-point plan for ending the military conflict to Iran via Pakistan. It is unclear whether Tehran is ready to take these proposals as a basis for negotiations and whether Israel fully agrees with the U.S. ideas, NYT acknowledges.
The U.S. and Israel launched the operation against Iran on February 28.
