White House: US intelligence closely following Iran’s Supreme Leader selection
04 March 2026 23:31
U.S. intelligence agencies are closely following the process of selecting Iran’s next Supreme Leader, the White House confirmed, cautioning that it is too early to draw any conclusions.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made the remarks during a routine briefing with journalists.
“Of course, we’ve seen the reports,” Livitt said, referring to media claims that Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been appointed as Iran’s new top leader. “We’ve seen those reports, as well, of course, and this is something that our intelligence agencies are closely monitoring and looking at. The truth is, we’ll have to wait and see,” she added.
