Who will lead Ukraine’s General Staff? Zelenskyy announces key military reshuffle

Ukraine has approved a series of personnel changes and outlined specific steps aimed at accelerating key initiatives to strengthen the country’s air defence capabilities, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a statement.

According to the Ukrainian leader, new appointments, decisions and measures have been determined to speed up the implementation of priority projects in the field of air defence.

“We have decided that Major General Ihor Skybiuk will become the new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We have also determined how Oleksandr Syrskyi and Andrii Hnatov will continue serving in the defence of our state.

We have identified steps, decisions and appointments that should accelerate the implementation of key initiatives in the field of air defence — our FREYJA anti-ballistic programme, cooperation with the United States on licences for Patriot production, as well as collaboration with our European partners on specific joint programmes,” Zelenskyy noted.
