Will Finland greenlight nukes transit?

Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo may authorise the transit of nuclear weapons after the country joins the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO), STT reports.

According to the agency, it was decided that there would be no restrictions on its membership when Finland joins NATO.

"It is still unclear how the possible transport of nuclear weapons through Finland will take place," the agency said.

It is noted that the Finnish authorities now have the option to leave the article in the Nuclear Energy Act that contains information on nuclear explosives unchanged, to amend the Act or to adopt a new Act.
